Imagine this,  you finished work five hours ago you'd meet up with your friends,  filled up the minibus and headed west from Peterborough heading to Snowdonia.

Five hours of travelling, including a stop for Fish and Chips, a staple on the way to a weekend of Hill walking.

You arrive at the campsite (Bethgelate  - Forestry Commission site Very good at the time ), as you have previously recced the site already and you have the pitch details you direct the minibus to the pitch.

Now, remember you are in the middle of a campsite in the middle of the Snowdonia National Park and its pitch black except for the minibus headlight.

The shout goes up  "we're here!!"   you open the side step out into the night and ........

.....  promptly drop 8 feet down on to the pitch below.

Your lying in a heap with your dignity nowhere to be found and all you can hear is laughter  ( Well when you look back it must  have been funny .)

Well, that was me.   I now use a torch to see before getting out of the vehicle (at night).

By the way, the walk was a great success with no injuries  ( well except my pride)
